If Oregon Wild's Development Coordinator looks like a familiar face, well, it's because he is. Jonathan Jelen actually served as the organization's Old-Growth Campaign Coordinator in 2008-2009. He's always been passionate about preserving Oregon's beauty and is excited to have rejoined the team in the spring of 2011.
Jonathan has worked in the environmental field for over a decade doing everything from fundraising and member outreach to lobbying and policy analysis. Now, as Development Coordinator, he'll direct his passions toward building the critical financial and community support that Oregon Wild needs to restore and protect the natural beauty of Oregon's wildlands, wildlife, and waters.
As the Old-Growth Campaign Coordinator, Jonathan worked toward permanent protections for old growth and was a co-author of the global-warming report “Climate Control: How Northwest Old-Growth Forests Can Help Fight Global Warming.”
Always drawn to the outdoors, Jonathan particularly enjoys the dry forests and deserts of central and eastern Oregon. In his free time, he and his wife Laura spend as much time as possible hiking, camping, photographing, reading up on wolves, and seeing live music.
