This hike has it all. Wildflowers, forests, fire recovery, and fun. Join us on the edge of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness for a memorable hike.
Difficulty: Strenuous
Distance: 5.5 miles round trip
Elevation Gain: 500 - 1,000 feet
Leader: Gabe Howe
Location: Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Come see for yourself what all the fire fuss is about. Experience the magic of natural post-fire forest succession in the mysterious Kalmiopsis wilderness area. We will be traversing a glacial cirque and dropping down to it's geologic product, famous Babyfoot lake. Eight years after the 2002 Biscuit fire, this 5.5 mile loop offers users a first hand glimpse into an invaluable laboratory with a turbulent geologic and contemporary history.
This hike is free and open to the general public. Sign up for the hike here.
