Cruise the ridge of Hunchback Mountain for perfect views of both Salmon-Huckleberry and Mt. Hood Wilderness areas.

Hunchback Mountain guards the gateway to Mount Hood and rests to the south of Highway 26. On this tough and rewarding hike you will cruise the ridge of Hunchback Mountain for perfect views of both Salmon Huckleberry and Mount Hood Wilderness areas.
This tough hike includes steep switchbacks through a beautiful and thick forest of moss, sword and lady ferns, high elevation rhododendrons, vine maples, oxalis wildflower, and some terrific Douglas fir trees. Hikers are rewarded with a handful of outstanding viewpoints of Wilderness new and old and a great workout. Be sure to bring your water and a camera for this challenging summer adventure.
