Longer Description: This hike will explore a region that has been a hot topic this year in the Oregon Legislature. Threatened by destination resort development, the Metolius is one of the healthiest rivers in Oregon and home to rare Bull trout and salmon.

Springing from the base of Black Butte, the river meanders through old-growth Ponderosa forests and alongside an 11,000-acre roadless area.
