At 5,900 feet elevation we will first sample a half-mile of the Timberline Trail (that circles Mount Hood) beginning near Mount Hood’s historic 1937 lodge to examine alpine wildflowers and take in a view of the upper White River Canyon.

Next we will drive to Umbrella Falls and explore a lush alpine wildflower meadow below the Mount Hood Meadows Ski Area. While hiking shoes are recommended, overall the hike is rated as “easy” and in total will cover no more than 2 miles.

A plant list with scientific and common names of over 150 plant and wildflower species most likely to be encountered will be provided to participants.
