Discover the treasures of the Oregon Dunes on this Mother’s Day romp through rolling sand dunes and forests.
Distance: 2.0 miles
Elevation Gain: minimal
Location: Central Oregon Coast, south of Florence
Spend some time exploring rolling dunes of open sand, islands of pine forests, wildflowers, animal tracks, and beautiful beaches with your family this Mother’s Day – or adopt a new Oregon Wild family! (Children encouraged to attend this hike, but must be accompanied by adults.)
The Oregon Dunes are one of the best kept secrets on the coast. While parts of the Dunes are a favored playground for off-road vehicles, others are quiet, lovely, and nearly deserted. Stretching for more than 40 miles from Florence to Coos Bay along the central Oregon Coast, the area is the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in North America. Administered by the Siuslaw National Forest, much of the area is a designated roadless area.
Help Oregon Wild continue to provide high-quality, guided hikes into Oregon's spectacular wildlands by making a small donation. Your support helps offset the costs of our hikes program, and ensures we can all continue to explore and enjoy Oregon's natural heritage. Suggested donation of $5 (Oregon Wild members) and $10 (non members).
