Location: Central Oregon Coast, south of Florence
The Oregon Dunes remain one of the best kept secrets of the coast. While parts of the Dunes are a favored playground for off-road vehicles, others are quiet, lovely, and nearly deserted.
On this hike, we’ll hike through open sand, islands of pine forests, and a beautiful beach. Learn about the formation of this unique, changing ecosystem and find a new favorite coastal getaway!
The Oregon Dunes are like no others in the world. Stretching for more than 40 miles from Florence to Coos Bay along the central Oregon Coast, the area is the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in North America.
Administered by the Siuslaw National Forest, much of the area is a designated roadless area.
With unique coastal forests and the off chance you'll spot a rare snowy plover, the Dunes are a great treat for hikers looking to catch a little bit of everything.
