The old-growth forest on Patterson Mountain – nestled along the ridge between Hardesty Mountain and Desolation Butte – is one of the finest left in the central Cascade foothills.

Though small in area, this forest is well worth becoming acquainted with for its spring wildflowers, summer meadows, and fall mushrooms. The hike to the top is a mild climb but offers rewarding views, as well as towering forests along the way.
