Hike to the treeline through newly designated Wilderness and dramatic post-fire re-growth. Top it off with a spectacular lunchtime view of Mt. Hood’s northeast face.

Distance: 6.0 miles
Elevation Gain: 2,200 feet

Join longtime Wilderness advocate Margo Earley as we ascend the Tilly Jane Ski Trail through the treeline to the Cloud Cap Saddle. It may be the cusp of summer, but it’s still very much winter on the mountain. Treat yourself to dramatic views of the snow-covered face of Mt. Hood.
Hike through newly-designated Wilderness which burned during a lightning sparked forest fire in the autumn of 2008. See the dramatic re-growth in every direction and hear the fascinating story behind the fire.
Learn about the six-year effort to win Wilderness protection for this historic and sensitive area while enjoying the surrounding beauty. If conditions permit, we’ll descend the Polallie Ridge Trail.
Hike participants limited to 10 people.
