Hike through proposed Wilderness additions to the western most end of the Salmon Huckleberry Wilderness Area.

(Hike will be postponed to Tuesday, October, 21 if significant rain is forecast the day before.)

This will be a moderate, 4 to 5 mile round trip, mushroom and plant identification hike into area roadless lands and to the designated Salmon Huckleberry Wilderness Area--north east of Estacada.  (This area is not to be confused with the “other” (better known) Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge).  This area is included in current Mt. Hood Wilderness Bills.

Beginning on an old log road, gradually descend 800 feet to a mostly flat trail, just above Eagle Creek.  After a mile we enter an outstanding old growth forest in proposed additions to the already designated Wilderness.  We will return the same way we came in.
