They call it Mirror Lake, but you won't be able to see your reflection this time of year. Hop into some snowshoes and make your way to some of the best views of Mt. Hood. This popular hike is both easy on the lungs and easy on the eyes.
Level: Moderate
Distance: 4.0 miles
Elevation Gain: 800 feet
Leader: Pat Clancy
Location: Mount Hood National Forest
Test your winter legs on the Mirror Lake trail. Join Oregon Wild for a trek through the snow to a popular spot close to Portland.
In the summer, Mirror Lake can get pretty crowded, so why not check out this Wilderness gem (well, technically it's right on the border of Wilderness) in the winter time when the crowds are smaller but the beauty is no less surreal.
(Oregon Wild members ($6) and non-members ($9). All proceeds from hikes support Oregon Wild’s campaigns to protect wildlands across the state.)
If you are unsure if your Oregon Wild membership is current, please call 503.283.6343 x 213. To join, please click here.
Snowshoes are not provided. Rentals can be made at REI at 1405 NW Johnson St, 503.221.1938 and at Oregon Mountain Community at 2975 NE Sandy Blvd, 503.227.1038.
