It's Valentine's Day, you hate Hallmark, but you love the outdoors. It's time to join Oregon Wild on a singles snowshoe hike to Twin Lakes.

Level: Beginner
Distance: 3.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 500 feet

If celebrating an overly commercialized and completely trite holiday has you nauseous, here's something else to consider about Valentine's day: it's also Oregon's birthday. And in 2009 we're celebrating our sesquicentennial (go ahead, try to say it three times fast). That's 150 years of Oregondom.

So, ditch the city, say happy birthday to Oregon and enjoy the day with the outdoors and a group of young single folks with like minds.

We'll be heading to Twin Lakes, a hike well-suited to first time snowshoers as well as seasoned vets.

The hike is limited to young singles (age 20-35).

It's on you to bring snowshoes, but have no fear, Oregon Wild hikers can get discounts on rentals at REI on 1405 NW Johnson St, (503) 221-1938.

RSVP for the hike.

Overheard...

"I am a long time member of Oregon Wild/ONRC/OWC. The acronym has changed a couple times over the last 35 years, but the mission is as important as ever."
