Start the new year off in the mountains with a beginner snowshoe trip along the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail in the proposed Twin Lakes Wilderness area.

Level: Beginner
Distance: 3.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 500 feet

If you've never been on a snowshoe hike before, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a try. If you are a veteran snowshoer, bring along a warm beverage and show the newbies how it's done.

We'll hike through high elevation old-growth forests along the PCT up to the first of Twin Lakes. The lakeside offers a pristine spot to enjoy some lunch and to admire the view (fingers crossed for a clear day and straight line view to the top of Mount Hood).

The snowshoe trip will include guided narration regarding forest ecology and preservation.

Snowshoes are not provided, but Oregon Wild hikers can get discounts on rentals at REI on 1405 NW Johnson St, (503) 221-1938.

RSVP for the hike.
