An Oregon Wild Wednesday Presentation:
William Sullivan—Oregon Favorites

If you’re a serious hiker in Oregon, you’ve probably heard his name. You may have read one of his novels. His famous hand drawn maps might have guided you back to the trailhead from a distant wilderness vista. His name is William Sullivan, and no man is more synonymous with Oregon hiking trails than the fifth generation Oregonian and Eugene native.

Join Oregon Wild and William Sullivan for a special Oregon Wild Wednesday event on April 11th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at Jam on Hawthorne in Portland. Sullivan will share the highlights of one of his newest books, Oregon Favorites: Trails and Tales.

From a ski adventure at Crater Lake to a wildflower hike in the Columbia Gorge and a hidden hot springs in the desert, here Oregon Favorites Coverare 62 favorite stories about places and people in Oregon’s outdoors. For armchair travelers and adventurers alike, the book includes boxed inserts with trip details, as well as color-coded headings recommending the best month to visit each of these Oregon favorites.

Sullivan is best known for his 100 Hikes series that details the best hikes in five distinct regions of the state. He has gathered his hiking trail knowledge over a three decade career that included a 1985 trip where Sullivan set out to investigate Oregon’s wilderness on a 1,361-mile solo backpacking trek from the state’s westernmost shore at Cape Blanco to Oregon’s easternmost point in Hells Canyon.
