Cascades Raptor Center – Two Decades of Giving Flight

Gandalf was found in 2005, weak from starvation and with his wing broken in two places. This June, four years after the Cascades Raptor Center took in this Great Gray Owl, Gandalf was released back into the wild near Oakridge, Oregon. A similar story can be told for hundreds of raptors now flying free across North America.

On July 15, join Oregon Wild and the Cascades Raptor Center to meet a rescued raptor and find out more about the amazing work carried out at the Raptor Center’s wildlife hospital and nature education facilities. This Oregon Wild Northern spotted owlWednesday presentation will include an inside look at the recovery efforts underway at the Center and explain more about the challenges that wild raptors face in coexisting with humans.

Also presenting will be Oregon Wild Old Growth Campaign Coordinator Chandra LeGue. LeGue will explore the relationship between raptors like the northern spotted owl and the old-growth forest habitat they rely on. Her presentation will include and inside look at current threats and upcoming opportunities.
