Join Wendell Wood for a leisurely bike ride in the Columbia Gorge, with frequent stops for admiration and identification of wildflowers (moderate, 4.6 miles with optional shuttle return, 200 ft elev. gain)

Bring your own bike and join Oregon Wild naturalist Wendell Wood for this slow-going ride with numerous stops to identify and admire the lovely gorge wildflowers. Enjoy open meadows, and conifer forest habitats where they transition into pine and oak woodlands. Plant list provided.

Space is limited to 15 participants. RSVP with your name, phone number and email to: hikes@gorgefriends.org or 503.241.3762 ext. 103

Please leave the next day open in case the hike is postponed due to significant rain.

For the one-way shuttle option, rendezvous just before 9:30 a.m. in front of the Visitor Center at the Mark O. Hatfield Trailhead near Hood River.  If you plan to make it a round trip ride (9.4 miles and slightly more elevation gain on the return trip), meet at 10:00 a.m. at the same trailhead.  Allow a minimum of an hour+ driving time from Portland.  State Park day passes are available for $3 per vehicle at the trailhead.

Overheard...

"There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse.  Either is a gain over just staying home."
