Mount Hood is a beautiful and dangerous place, as the members of Portland Mountain Rescue well know.

Learn about the techniques and adventures of one of the nation’s most experienced alpine rescue teams, and about efforts to expand protections for the land around Mount Hood, at the Lucky Lab Brew Pub.

Portland Mountain Rescue’s Terry Campbell helms a presentation on how the team plans its rescues and tells of some lessons learned in the Northwest’s harsh terrain and unpredictable weather conditions.

Oregon Wild, a nonprofit conservation group, presents a slide show and raffle to help garner support for the Lewis and Clark Mount Hood Wilderness proposal.

The slides show some of the land that’s on its way to becoming a protected wilderness. Every attendee receives a free raffle ticket, and the Lucky Lab’s microbrews and pub food will be available for purchase.

6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 23, 915 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd., 503-236-3555, all ages, free
