Oregon Wild Announces Series of Winter Snowshoe Outings
Popular hiking series returns with Portland and Eugene area excursions
See Oregon's natural gems like you never have before - covered in a blanket of snow and surrounded by winter solitude.Portland, Ore Dec 14, 2011
The conservation group Oregon Wild announced today the return of its wildly popular winter snowshoe hike series. Experienced staff and volunteers will lead seven trips out onto the snowy trails of Oregon’s forests. Five of the hikes will depart from the Portland/Salem area and two from Eugene. The snowshoe hike schedule is part of a larger, year-long hike series put on by Oregon Wild in an effort to help Oregonians experience their public lands.
“If you’ve never been snowshoeing before you’ve got to try it,” said Sean Stevens, who will lead a snowshoe trip to Salmon River Meadows in the Mount Hood National Forest this year. “Seeing the forest blanketed in snow is a beautiful and tranquil experience that all Oregonians should get to have.”
All hikes are free with a suggested donation to help Oregon Wild continue to provide high-quality, guided hikes into Oregon's spectacular wildlands. Donations help offset the costs of our hikes program and ensure Oregonians can continue to explore and enjoy the state’s natural heritage.
