Tony Mounts, Finance Director, grew up in the deserts of southern California where he recalls that trees were mostly thorny, wildlife mostly reptilian, and rivers mostly non-existent. After moving to Oregon almost 40 years ago, Tony spent about 30 years working in Oregon local governments helping elected officials make hard choices during and after the tax revolts of the ‘80s and ‘90s. After so many years serving Oregon’s settled areas, Tony’s excited to apply his skills to serving Oregon’s wild areas.
Tony and his wife Kate explored Oregon’s forests and rivers with their two sons (5th generation Oregonians) as they grew up in Eugene and Portland and they continue to enjoy camping and meandering down quiet backroads. When not otherwise obligated, Tony can be found on two wheels dodging cars on city streets or pedaling some backroad.
Tony’s deepest lesson about human behavior and resource management came while Administrative Services Director for the City of Salem where, among other things, he was responsible for downtown parking. Yes, it was wild at times.
