Wildlands

For over 30 years, Oregon Wild has worked to protect our wildlands as a legacy for future generations

Anthony Lakes - N. Fork John Day WildernessFrom the epic journeys of explorers such as Lewis and Clark to the trials of the pioneers who crossed the Oregon Trail, wilderness and wild lands have been the crucible in which the American character was forged.

Modern-day explorers still seek the freedom and solitude that can be found in unspoiled lands.  From the rugged backcountry of the Eagle Caps Wilderness to the scenic beauty of the Columbia Gorge, each year thousands Oregonians head out into our forests, deserts, and mountains to enjoy activities such as hiking, backpacking, kayaking, hunting and fishing.

Overheard...

"The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired, in value."
