Job Posting: Public Lands Coordinator

Founded in 1974, Oregon Wild is a non-profit conservation organization with a history of accomplishment. Our victories include safeguarding over 1.7 million acres of Wilderness and 1,800 miles of Wild & Scenic Rivers through federal legislation, legal victories that have protected hundreds of thousands of acres of old-growth forests and preserved critical wetland habitat, and the preservation and restoration of numerous endangered species, from coho salmon to gray wolves. Oregon Wild enjoys a national reputation as a pioneering organization that is both highly strategic and effective, with strong policy expertise.

The Oregon Wild Public Lands Coordinator works to advance the Crater Lake Wilderness proposal while defending Oregon’s public lands heritage from privatization and other threats.

The Public Lands Coordinator is responsible for designing and implementing lobbying, grassroots, and communications strategies needed to advance these goals.  Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with key Congressional and agency staff, reporters, business leaders and other opinion leaders; outreach to and education of pro-conservation public lands user groups, and traditional and electronic media outreach aimed at increasing public support for Wilderness and the protection of public lands.

This position requires extensive travel to the Crater Lake region and other areas of the state. It is preferred that the successful candidate be based in the Oregon Wild Portland office, but we will consider applicants based in Bend or Eugene.
